Hills On TWO SIDES

Good

  • Swing | Modified for uphill or swing away from ascent toward downhill position

  • Folding | Only requirement is small flat mounting section app. 8 feet of clearance from ascent.

  • Bollards | No restrictions but ONLY good for car restriction - will not prevent animal or human property access.

Bad

  • Slide | Requires back stacking space so actual site condition must accommodate the actual gate size + 3 feet of clearance.

  • Barrier | Would work, but very few people use as sole gate because it allows people and animal access to property.

  • Stacking | Similar restrictions as slide, however, less back space required so this could work were a small clearance exists.

Notes:

  • Slide gates can never slide uphill as this is unsafe and violates UL 325

  • All automated vehicle gates require a pedestrian access nearby to prevent pedestrian access through vehicle gate.

  • Uphill swing gates are restricted to mild grade increases
